Geraldine Ferraro attempting to defend Hillary

Geraldine Ferraro, former vice presidential candidate in 1984, spoke to the New York Times attempting to defend Hillary against accusations that Hillary’s campaign was “playing the gender card” in responding to the quote politics of pile-on unquote. Judge for yourself how well she did:

“We can’t let them do this in a presidential race,” [Ferraro] said. “They say we’re playing the gender card. We are not. We are not. We have got to stand up. It’s discrimination against her as a candidate because she is a woman.”

Is it just me, or does Ferraro play the woman’s card as she says she’s not?  It seems that Hillary isn’t the only member of her campaign who can contradict herself within a two minute time limit.  I think this type of verbal feat – taking two opposing positions within two minutes – should be called a “pulling a Hillary”.

Ms Ferraro, your latest comments regarding Barack Obama were true and correct. I have little problem with Mr Obama being our next President, but I am a Hillary Clinton supporter. I beleive your comments will prove very advantageous to Hillary at the end of the day; SO KEEP ON KEEPING ON even though you are no longer with the campaign.

Just wanted to express my sincerest respect for Mrs. Ferraro for not backing down on her statement. I cannot see any thing wrong with what she said. She was expressing her opinion and should not be penalized for it. Just because she mentions that someone is black does not make it a racial statement. If he is elected are we all going to be afraid to say anything about him for fear of repercussions as I believe the media is? Does anyone truly think he has not been handled with kid gloves by the media because he is black? This is still America and we still have freedom of speech, so far anyway!

Ms. Ferraro’s remarks deeply sadden me. All of the respect that I had for her vanished thanks to her divisive attacks. As women we must be able to make arguments that we are better and stronger than our opponent, rather than attack his or her character. She should know better. Yet another heroine goes from being an icon to being just another footnote in history – the mighty have fallen.

I have to agree with you on your most recent coments regarding the Obama campaign. It is about time someone had the nerve to say what everyone else is thinking. Hillary would be a so much better president, and weather it helps or hurts her it had to be said Hooray for you Gerry

Ms. Ferraro I voted for you and defended you many years ago. Now, I am disgusted with your remarks. I am a 57 year old white woman. It is perfectly clear to me that this was an orchestrated bit of propaganda, part of the kitchen sink philosophy of Hillary Clinton. You’re 72 and being used by a woman instead of a man .It is equal opportunity I guess. The sad part of all of this is that Hillary and you are just proving that woman can be equal in deceit. Heck we already knew this. We’ don’t want females mimicking males. What we wanted from you two females is the essence of a female to the political system. We’ve had enough yang we want yin!!!. Just giving us yang in a female body isn’t it. You both miss the point.

IS THIS CALLED “FANCIFUL INTERPRETATION”? HOW CAN ANYONE HONESTLY SEE RACISM
IN GERALDINE’S COMMENTS?IF REFERENCE TO OBAMA’S AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE IS
RACISM THEN HER REFERENCE TO A WOMAN IS AGAINST WOMEN FOR SHE SAID THE SAME
THING IN BOTH REFERENCES. IT IS NO SECRET THAT OBAMA IS GETTING AN ENORMOUS
VOTE FROM AFRICAN AMERICAN VOTERS. IN PRE-PRIMARY ANALYSIS REFERENCE IS AL-
WAYS MADE TO THE PERCENTAGE OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN VOTER POPULATION AS
FAVORABLE TO OBAMA. I AM A CAUCASION WOMAN AND PLEASED TO BE SO. REFERENCE
TO ME AS SUCH DOES NOT OFFEND ME – WHY SHOULD REFERENCE TO OBAMA’S AFRICAN
AMERICAN HERITAGE OFFEND HIM? IT ALL SMELLS LIKE A PLOY TO GET ATTENTION.

It doesn’t matter what is said ,they will take anything and turn it around to please
there canidate Berack Obama , why do we have to walk tippy toe and not be able to
say what we feel without being called a raciest . God help us if he is our president
with the crew he’s got working for him now..THERE WILL BE NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH..

Ms. Ferraro: Thank you for saying what so many of us are thinking. Please do not back down! Obama has nowhere near the experience required for the presidency. And as you say, if someone else had to compete with his lack of credentials, they couldn’t. I don’t believe for a minute that you or your statement is racist in nature. Indeed, if anything, the Obama campaign plays that game–if not officially, but on another level. In Obama, we are getting another novice (like Bush, except to the left). Our country cannot afford that at this point in time. Best wishes to you and once more, thank you.

Ms Ferraro,
I am not a Democrat and I absolutely detest Hillary Clinton, HOWEVER, what you said, MADE SO MUCH SENSE AND WAS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH. BY THE WAY, Hillary didn’t defend you did she? The people who would call you racist are ignorant and have obviously not heard/read the ENTIRE STATEMENT you had made. I watched you with Diane Sawyer yesterday and must say I APPLAUDE THE WAY YOU DID NOT LET HER SILENCE YOU. The media has turned into nothing more than TABLOID news, spewing lies and half truths, editing and splicing to make a story. I APPLAUD YOU, GERALDINE FERRARO FOR TELLING IT LIKE IT IS.
Sincerely,
A Republican who appreciates anyone of any party with COMMON SENSE.

I did not see anything wrong with the statement you made about Barack Obama and I could find nothing racist about it. As someone said previously.. you said what a lot are thinking out here. I would also like to know why the press is ragging on Hillary constantly but yet nothing is said about Obama? There is something wrong with this picture. I also watched you the other day with Diane Sawyer and you did not back down to her pressuring you and silencing you. I am a Hillary supporter as well as yourself. Keep up the good work you do and saying what you believe in… Stick with your principals.

Geraldine Ferraro did “a favor” for her friend Hillary Clinton, who is currently losing by over A MILLION in the popular vote to Obama. Clearly the American people have spoken throughout this great country, and “WE THE PEOPLE” say “Obama for President” , according to the polls. The frustrating thing for Hillary is that Obama beats her by large margins with the Democratic White vote. We are all voting for Barack Obama, because we see a sincerity in him that no other candidate possesses. White Dem. Men are voting and supporting Obama in very large margins throughout the country. The attempt to raise the race issue is an attempt to insert something that has been foreign in this campaign so far. Not suprised it would be Hillary to do this, as she has run a dirty campaign. Hillary Clinton is shameless and will stop at nothing to win, even if it means tearing the Democratic party assunder in the process.

The Ferraro comment was no doubt one initiated by Hillary Clinton to attempt to play the “race” card. Surely, Hillary knew what one of her head people was about to say and this was obviously orchestrated to attempt to capture some of the White vote. Now, the media is feeding on the race issue and attempting to paint Obama in a warped manner. Problem is, the premise is fundamentally flawed, as Barack Obama was born of a White mother who looked like Snow White herself and was raised by this mother (who he loved and revered) and his White maternal Grandparents. To attempt to make him seem anything less than the a candidate that is truly universalist and accepts all people equally (as is obvious) is a wasted attempt to smear an honorable man whose immediate family is White. Again, the premise is flawed, but nice try!

Hillary Clinton should be required to explain her close relationship to Norman Hsu, federal extortionist on FBI’s most wanted list before being imprisoned, who donated to Hillary Clinton’s campaign $1 million as they are close friends. The Rezko scandal pales in comparison. Additionally, Hillary Clinton should be required to release her Tax Returns as claims to advocate “Transparency in Government”. Please also release you “First Lady Papers” so the American public can view all this experience you keep claiming. Experience drinking tea in the White House? Experience getting your nails and hair done? Experience warding off Bill’s escapades with Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky? If Hillary steals the Nomination, we will see more underhandness, more whining, more crying, more emotional manipulations, and Bill will once again turn the White House into a Brothal!

It amazes me that people are not talking about Obama’s lack of leadership skills. First he voted present in the Illinois legislature 130 times. Says the bills were not good enough or there were technical problems. Well life is a compromise and most leaders would have rolled up their sleeves and fought for the essentials, nothing is perfect. Instead Obama voted present. Either he does not have the ability to take on hard issues or he does not want to be held accountable. Either way he is not Presidential material. Secondly, when Obama says he strongly disagrees with some of the sentiments that Jeremiah Wright voiced in his sermons, what did he do? Nothing! He just sat there for twenty years and did not voice opposition until he was forced to. Is that a quality we want in our President? He is not a doer, he is a talker. He says he opposed the war but never had to vote on it. If we judged him by his past history, he would have voted present or not shown up at all to vote, as he did when the Iranian terrorist vote came up and he was gone campaigning. Then he criticised Hillary for her vote. Obama would be another President in training and has never been tested. Today, like always he gave a good speech. Speeches are just words and not actions. He needs to be drilled by informative reporters who possess objectivity. He certainly has this country following him into a fog with an unknown destination. Is the USA becoming a country of sheep instead of shepherds and free thinkers?

The media mis-quoted Geraldine Ferraro!
The following day when she appeared on a morning show and expounded on her initial statement, the media again re-interpreted &
re-worded her statements as being “racist”.
I FOUND NOTHING WRONG OR RACIST IN ANYTHING SHE SAID.
Barac after all had won in highly white populated states, much of the idealistic youth vote for him, and he had just won over 90% of the black vote in Mississippi. ………and this is a political campaign after all.
EVERYTHING SHE SAID WAS TRUTH -NOT RACIST!

HOW DID BARAC TAKE HER WORDS (being the candidate of change and hope and transparency in a movement)?
Did you see how he brought everyone together?
Couldn’t you feel the equality and justice for all???
No,……. BARAC’S RESPONSE WAS TO HIS PERCEPTION OF RACISM.

After the media played the sound bites of Pastor Wright’s delightful and deeply religious sermon over and over and over again, (remember, everone in the media has seemed awfully uncomfortable to discuss race for months; because remember, THIS IS NOT A RACE ABOUT “RACE” according to Barac Obama), Barac Obama scheduled to make a speech (in the state where it just so happens to be where the next primary election will take place).
And, of course the networks CNN & MSNBC aired it uninterrupted & without a commercial or commentary.
While his speech was written, & delivered BEAUTIFFULY (he is an awesome preacher/speaker: and a civil rights attorney after all)
I FOUND IT QUITE ARROGANT AND FALSE, if not typically political, for him to speak of racism as though he is the authority on the topic; when in fact, he had just treated Geraldine Ferraro as a racist!

Barac Obama’s campaign theme is “change”; it’s printed below his name (you know, that blue & white thing below his michrophone when he gives speeches). He speaks of hope and trasnparency and a movement.

So, Now that the OBAMA HAS SPOKEN about RACE, IT”S OKAY?

The same way that the media re-interpretted Hillary Clinton’s comment about the Saturday Night Live skit and her mention of being asked qurestions first in the debates, was re-interpreted by the media as being a whinnnnnning female.
Wasn’t it obvious that almost every time Hillary gave an answer, Senator Obama would say something like, “Well Senator Clinton and I have discussed that and….” or ” I agree with Sentor Clinton ……”
In other words, he takes her words and makes them his own.
It is part of his being “PRESIDENTIAL”.

It’s easy for the media and all of the analysts to say that there isn’t a lot of difference between the two candidates.
Example: Did you hear all of the other Democratic Candidates talk about the exact topics of Hillary’s campaign.?
I’m sure you didn’t; Barac is the one who just happens to have the very same ideas with his twist.

Again, Barac Obama just gave a speech about “race” (which just happens to be in the state where the next primary election will be held).
Did anyone notice that his response to Geraline Ferraro’s statements a week or so ago was as though she is a racist?
And he made a slight reference to that in his “race” speech.
IT WAS A FABULOUS SPEECH FOR A CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT.
THIS IS HOWEVER IS A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

Geraldine Ferraro, If you read these blogs…Bless you and KEEP SPEAKING – IT’S YOUR CIVIL RIGHT afterall.

“…..Make him pay, America has been raping people of color and Ameica has to pay….”
This is part of what Father Michael Pfleger said at Barack Obama’s church.
His “Sermon” was not only sexist, and an assault on Hilllary Clinton, it was beyond offensive to ALL WHITE PEOPLE.

If Hillary is not the nominee, how does a write-in work?

Geraldine, please continue to speak as comfortably and honestly as you have….Thanks!

I’ve been surfing online greater than 3 hours lately, yet I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty price enough for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made excellent content material as you probably did, the net will be a lot more useful than ever before.
