$5.01: The Price of Change

Donate Today!

[digg-reddit-me] For more on today’s Barack Obama “money bomb”: The Grand Panjandrum has been a huge booster; and it was blueinks over at the Daily Kos who got this rolling.

The key aspect of today’s “money bomb”: donate $5.01 (or a multiple of $5.01) to Barack Obama’s campaign in honor of another legislator from Illinois who ran for the presidency whose birthday happens to be today. Abraham Lincoln appears on both the $5

Let us stand by our duty, fearlessly and effectively. Let us be diverted by none of those sophistical contrivances wherewith we are so industriously plied and belabored – contrivances such as groping for some middle ground between the right and the wrong, vain as the search for a man who should be neither a living man nor a dead man – such as a policy of “don’t care” on a question about which all true men do care…

Neither let us be slandered from our duty by false accusations against us, nor frightened from it by menaces of destruction to the Government nor of dungeons to ourselves. Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith, let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it

Check back for updates as to the state of fundraising today. I hope to be getting them periodically.

Update: Kate Stone is also promoting the $5.01 day.

Doesn’t Obama have ties to the council on foreign relations? Seems like a horrible candidate to me! He may opposed to the war in Iraq, but only because he wants to spread war to the whole middle east!

If it works out the same way for Obama as it did for Lincoln, then the world will mourn with us, and America will fall into some very dark times.

i like obama a lot and will gladly donate even more money than i have already… however, lincoln was not a great president. he muzzled the press, silenced critics, and increased the power the executive to a dangerous degree. he was pro-slavery, but used the issue as a political tool.

he was not the hero we believe he was simply because the war ended on his watch and he gave us the emancipation proclamation.

so i think it is hasty and unwise to donate to obama in lincoln’s name.

Our HUGE monolithic corporation pays at the back-end.

Our politicians know that if they do not disrupt the status quo too severely that when they leave office our firm (and many others) have wonderful jobs awaiting them at extremely high wages and all the benefits.

No promises need be made. The politicos know the way the “system” functions.

If the departing politician who performed
“public service” (bwa hah hah hah hah hah hah hah!!!!!! excuse me) doesn’t want an actual job he or she will be rewarded vis the speaking circuit. Ex-prez Reagen set the record with $2,000,000 for one speech to his fellow elite class members. Suck it up, you commoners. More pay for 15 minutes than you peons will receive for a life time of work. Suckers.

And to think, you actually believe your puny one vote counts for something.

Bwa hah hah hah hah hah!!!!!!!!!!! Such simpletons. Easily brainwashed and deluded little bleating sheep.

I laugh when I hear the sheep/citizens voice their anger and shout out “Vote the bums out.”

Bwa hah hah hah hah hah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You fools. Sure, vote the “bums out” but who replaces them? The folks the elite class offers you to vote upon!!!!

And those politicos ousted? By golly, they are doing extremely well financially. My HUGE corporation and others and wealthy/powerful speacial-interest groups ensure the finest highest-paying jobs are given to those “bums.”

The priveleges of catering to the status quo extends to kith and kin of politicians. How many newly-graduated college graduates do you know of that START at $100,000 yearly, along with the finest benefit package reserved for America’s elites?

Well, Chelsea Clinton started at that amount and don’t you even dare think that her Daddy’s position had anything to do with that amount.

So, donate your money to the politicos, suckers. My class will donate after they leave office.

And, rest assured, we get our money’s worth, you commoners.

Now, go out and compete economically with the millions of illegal aliens. You betters, your superiors have real work to do… maintaining the status quo that benefits the few so greatly.

While I do believe Obama is the best candidate of the three (maybe four if you count Huckabee) candidates the media acknowledges. There are two better candidates still running for president: Mike Gravel & Ron Paul. These are guys who are for true change. True peace & true liberty. While they disagree with each other on domestic issues – their agreement on the big issues (War & Freedom) … is something we should all be in agreement with if we are true Americans.

Barrack Obama is a great speaker, he has excellent timing and gets the audience responding to the cadence he sets.

Does America’s government need wholesale change? Or does American government need to be made to work the way it is supposed to without the influence of the corporations overriding that of We the People?

With candidates taking-in over a $100,000,000.00 each and spending most of that on television ads it makes you wonder who benefits from a nation being at campaign for over a year now.

Barrack Obama doesn’t deliver any details of his “Changes” in his speeches, will we have to wait until after hes elected President to find out?

Obama offers NO REAL CHANGES.

He’s an excellent orator but check out his voting record — essentially identical to Hillary.

If he becomes President — it’ll be the same old same old on all key issues — with a couple of highly touted “changes” thrown in for good measure.

Come on people — WAKE UP!

You say you want change but then you don’t want to support the candidates who offer REAL CHANGE. You support the most electable — which really means the “status quo” candidates. So don’t be surprised when all you get is more of the status quo.

No wonder the country has drifted so far from the principles that once made it the greatest country on earth.

Regardless of what anyone says, I thought this was a great idea: small donations from individuals show that this campaign is run by the people. I donated twice, at 5:01am and 5:01pm.
