Edward G. Rendell, interviewed by the Washington Post at the governors’ meeting, struck me as a “good ol’ boy” who would hurt as much as he would help a national ticket. Mr. Rendell suggests Senator Joe Biden as Vice President if Mr. Obama wins, and slyly and subtly, himself if Ms. Clinton wins the nomination. I’m not all that sure about either suggestion. In the next moment, Mr. Rendell suggests injecting Mr. Obama with sodium penathol!
To give a bit more context – he says that if Mr. Obama were injected with sodium penathol – a.k.a truth serum – he would admit that the media was treating him favorably. Perhaps that’s less extreme than the headline. You be the judge.
On a side note, based on these interviews – and a few other factors – I see Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota as Senator John McCain’s Vice Presidential pick. (The alternate I see is South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford.) Despite the many reasons for Mr. McCain to pick Governor Charlie Crist of Florida, I don’t see that happening.
