Casting Stones

I think this President has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen.

From the statement of John Edwards in the impeachment trial of Bill Clinton on February 12, 1999.

H/t Andrew Sullivan.

The old rule of politics is that a politician’s career isn’t done unless a politician is caught with:

a live boy or a dead girl.

Edwards releases this information on the Friday the Olympics begins and as a war breaks out between Russia and Georgia.  He obviously is still looking out for a future political career.

Yeah, John Edwards. He was what 500 votes and one Frankenstein monster heartbeat away from the Presidency, but that was then and this is now. He may remain a senator but probably not because down in the south they dont necessarily accept you after you cheat on the wife even if she has cancer and is a bit of a chubby due to the chemo.

Bottom line or epitaph of John Edwards – He couldnt make it as a Presidential candidate even without the bags, and was already a has-been. What future could he have at the national level now with this garbage in the mix?

He should have done what Bill Clinton would have done and murdered the woman.
